Inferior Alveolar Injections
The design of the traditional syringe forces a palm grasp that incorporates a straight, linear needle insertion and penetration. Using the Wand® handpiece allows for increased tactile feel, easier manipulation, increased precision, and the use of a bi-directional rotation insertion technique. This technique, which eliminates needle deflection, causes the needle to arrive closer to the injection site, resulting in fewer missed blocks and a more rapid onset of anesthesia. Also, when injecting more than one cartridge of anesthetic for a mandibular block, it is not necessary to remove the needle from the patient. A spent cartridge can be changed and a new one inserted into the cartridge holder at the CompuDent(TM) unit, allowing the needle to continue to be held at the injection site.
