AMSA Injections

Back to CompuDent

The AMSA is a single-site palatal injection anesthetizing multiple teeth (from the second premolar through the central incisor) without causing collateral numbness to the patient's lip and face. It is a comfortable injection for the patient and is easy to master. The AMSA requires one cartridge of anesthetic and provides profound pulpal, palatal and a transient buccal anesthesia for 60-90 minutes. This injection is utilized in esthetic/cosmetic dentistry to immediately and accurately assesses the patient's smile line. As one can see from the illustration of the scope of anesthesia, the AMSA, together with a traditional PSA infiltration (above the distal root of the second molar), will anesthetize a maxillary quadrant for restorative procedures and for scaling and root planing.
